Rayne Parish Council
10 March 2008. The parish council have recently upgraded the computer systems
in the CIP.
A new desktop PC has been purchased for use in the Parish office by the
clerk. This system is a major improvement over the old machine which was getting
quite old, and unable to run some of the newer software as well as getting
increasingly slow.
A laptop has been purchased for the clerk to use at meetings. She now has on
hand documents and files that would previously only be stored on the computer
in the Parish office. The laptop also enables her to type minutes and notes
during meetings saving the need to type them up from written notes afterwards
and this was first put to good use during the public meeting with the
developers re the foundry. Also, she can now access council email from home
rather than twice weekly during office hours. This laptop is also available for
use by any councillor for meetings and presentations if required.
A third machine has been purchased to upgrade the village computer in the
CIP.As well as a faster machine there is now a flat screen monitor which is a
vast improvement over the old one.A webcam has also been obtained for use with
Skype and MSN. The village computer is available for use, by appointment , to
any villager free of charge.
The old village computer system is still available for use with the Computer
Steering Group for training courses that are run for villagers from
time-to-time and the old computer used by the clerk has been donated to the
Village Hall Committee for use with their CCTV system.
All of these purchases have been made from the award monies for winning the
Calor Village of the Year ICT category. For further information please email
